Los Angeles Police Delegation Concludes Successful Visit to UAE

 Expressed their Admiration for UAE Police Achievements

 ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Monday, October 12th 2015 [ME NewsWire]

The US police delegation headed by Major General Horace Frank, Deputy Commander of Special Operations and Anti-terrorism bureau at Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), concluded its official visit to the UAE as a part of the international expertise exchange program and participation in field operations.

Upon conclusion of the visit, both parties exchanged commemorative shields.  Colonel Khaled Saeed Al Shamesi stressed the importance of exchanging policing expertise and knowledge between prestigious institutions with a track record of landmark achievements in providing world-class services. He explained that visits among both parties and their joint participation in field security support patrols aim to enhance police staff members’ skills and acquaint them with the different techniques and methods of crime fighting.

Colonel Al Shamesi added that during his visit, the delegation examined the advanced level attained by the UAE Police authorities. They also noted the unlimited support provided by the Police Leadership by providing the police institution with the latest devices and equipment, and modern methods and techniques to fight crimes, in addition highly qualified and trained personnel that operate these devices with high efficiency and quality.

Major General Horace Frank expressed his satisfaction with the development he witnessed in all areas of police work, and with the Police Leadership’s commitment to keep abreast of the latest developments, in terms of acquiring the best modern equipment and advanced devices, and availing of sophisticated training plans. He also praised the role and efficiency of police staff members.

The US delegation had visited the Weapons and Explosives Department and the Security Inspection Department (K9) at the Directorate General of the Security and Ports Affairs at Abu Dhabi Police. They were briefed by Brigadier Homaid Al Afrit, Head of the Weapons and Explosives Department about the tasks and duties undertaken by the Department and its affiliated sections and branches. He also acquainted the delegation members with the inspection and explosives’ disposal devices; post-explosions’ investigations; containers for hazardous materials transportation and disposal. He also accompanied them on a tour at the collection center for information on explosives and training halls.

Colonel Jamal Juma Habash, Director of the K9 Security Inspection Department accompanied the US delegation on a tour at the department, where they reviewed the police sniffer dogs’ pens and the veterinary clinic. He also briefed them on the role assigned to the department, in coordination with the other police departments.

The delegation also visited the Mussafah Police Station, where they were briefed by Captain Sheikh Zayed Bin Hamad Bin Hamdan Al Nahyan, Investigations Branch Manager at Mussafah police, about the tasks and duties carried out by the station. He also gave the delegation members an overview of the follow-up process and procedures, especially customer service center, to provide police services efficiently and quickly.  He also noted that the achieved success is a natural result of the partnership between the public and police staff members.

On the sidelines of the visit, the US delegation visited the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi on (Saturday), where they were briefed about its significant role as a monument to consolidate Islamic culture, by the Emirati culture guides.

It is worth mentioning that a Security Support delegation at Abu Dhabi Police visited a number of police departments in developed countries as a part the international expertise exchange program, including the Los Angeles Police Department, with whom they shared roles in the daily patrols and carried out criminal pursuits in the city’s streets for several days.

The Security Support delegation of ADP has proved the efficiency and exceptional skills of its male and female staff members, which qualifies them to carry out their policing duties in the fight against crime in various locations and conditions. The Security Support staff members are equipped with modern devices and weapons, and supported by field patrols that are designed and equipped according to the latest international standards.
