(NASDAQ: COMM) has agreed to acquire TE Connectivity’s (NYSE: TEL) Telecom, Enterprise and Wireless businesses in an all-cash transaction valued at approximately $3 billion. The transaction, which was approved by the boards of directors of both companies, is expected to accelerate CommScope’s strategy to drive profitable growth by entering into attractive adjacent markets and to broaden its position as a leading communications infrastructure provider. In addition, CommScope will have greater geographic and business diversity following the completion of the transaction.

The Telecom, Enterprise and Wireless businesses of TE Connectivity, a world leader in fiber optic connectivity for wireline and wireless networks, generated annual revenues of approximately $1.9 billion in its fiscal year ended September 26, 2014, consisting of $1.1 billion from its Telecom business, where it is a world leader; $627 million from Enterprise; and $164 million from Wireless. The combined company’s pro forma results for the twelve months ended September 30, 2014 would have been approximately $5.8 billion in net sales and $1.2 billion in pro forma adjusted EBITDA. The transaction is expected to be in excess of 20% accretive to CommScope’s adjusted earnings per share by the end of the first full year after closing and on a pro forma basis, excluding purchase accounting charges, transition costs and other special items.

Management Team, Closing and Financing

ADP Operations Handled 3.3 Million Calls Last Year

The Operations Room at Abu Dhabi Police recorded a 4.75 percent decrease in the number of the calls it received last year. In 2014, the Operations Room received 3,342,278 calls, while it received 3,508,942 calls in 2013, according to Lt. Colonel Nasser Suleiman Al Maskari, Director of the Operations Department, who attributed this decrease “as a result of the standards of excellence in the established guidelines for serving callers, and in improving the levels of individual awareness regarding the use of the emergency number 999.”

Lt. Colonel Al Maskari stated that the customer satisfaction rate stood at 97.2 percent in 2014, “which reflects the effectiveness of the operational plan that embodies the quality police and aims to achieve the objectives and speed of response of the Operations Room.” He continued by pointing out that Operations Room is equipped with 22 technical systems and programs that cover all of the specialized security platforms in accordance with the best administrative and technical applications that include the development and operations of the systems and the response of the Operations Room.

ADP: 61 Deaths from Traffic Accidents Last Year

According to Abu Dhabi Police records, 61 deaths during the last year were a result of exceeding the legal speed limits.

Brigadier Eng. Hussein Ahmed Al Harithi, Director of the Traffic and Patrols Directorate at the Abu Dhabi Police, said: “Of the total number of deaths caused by traffic accidents, 23 percent of the deaths are attributed to speeding.”

Brigadier Al Harithi warned against exceeding the legal speed limits. “The higher the speed is, the less time there is to stop - which makes it more difficult to avoid traffic accident,” he said. “It is imperative that motorists respect the legal speed limits in order to avoid traffic accidents that may result in deaths and injuries.”

Adding further, the Director of Traffic and Patrols Directorate stressed the commitment of the Abu Dhabi Police to promote traffic education among drivers in the public and private sectors. He also highlighted the importance of adhering to legal speed limits and in intensifying the efforts in traffic control through patrols and radars for maximum safety.

Brigadier Al Harithi also indicated that a total of 10,000 drivers from public and private sectors have benefited from the 169 awareness programs and lectures during the past year. “These programs and lectures aim to enhance the rates of those abiding by the fixed legal speeds limits that have been designated on the signage alongside the roads,” he said.

Brigadier Al Harithi reiterated his appeal to the motorists to observe speed limits to maintain their safety and the safety of other road users. He also called upon the various segments of the community to further enhance their efforts and initiatives aimed at promoting the culture of safe driving and to abide by the legal speed limits in a bid to prevent traffic accidents that are caused by speeding.

Brigadier Al Harithi noted that the Directorate has already used various media outlets to announce the sites of the radars and the legal speed limits on the internal and external roads of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. “The Directorate has appealed to drivers to respect the legal speed limits as specified on the signage boards on both sides of the road, and urges them to reduce speeds for their safety and the safety of road users,” he said.

Mock Fire Drill at the Criminal Investigation Department

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) at Abu Dhabi Police carried out a successful mock drill to extinguish a “fire” and managed to evacuate its Abi Dhabi headquarters’ building in less than six minutes.   Colonel Ibrahim Sultan Al Zaabi, Deputy Head of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), indicated that the drill was carried out in pursuance of the Environment, Health and Safety Management System at the Abu Dhabi Police GHQ.   Adding further, Colonel Al Zaabi stressed that mock evacuation drills are designed with a view to assess the readiness, preparedness and efficiency of police teams to deal with such incidents. “They are also in line with the Ministry of Interior’s strategy pertaining to the protection of government buildings from fire hazards”, he said.   In conclusion, the Deputy Head of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) reiterated that such drills boost the efficiency of safety and emergency entities in dealing with incidents and emergencies they may encounter.  They also aim at assessing the readiness and preparedness of staff members to deal with such incidents.

“Naturalization and Residency” Forum Stresses on Promoting Staff Members’ Capabilities and Sponsoring Creativity

The Directorate General of Resources and Support Services organized the first Human Resources Forum for the Naturalization, Residency and Ports Affairs at the Ministry of Interior (MoI) on Tuesday at Al Etihad Towers. The forum discussed an array of topics pertaining to job satisfaction incentives and indicators and staff members’ functional responsibility to maintain work sustainability and productivity and to instill the concept of loyalty and professional affiliation, as well as integrity and transparency.

Participants at the forum, which was held under the patronage of Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, emphasized that the leadership of the UAE dedicated special attention to developing human resources, in a way that contributes to preserving the national gains and overall renaissance in the UAE.

Leaders of the naturalization sector at the MoI said that the ministry’s approach with respect human resources development and enhancing the efficiency of its staff members form an advanced reference in this field for institutions and authorities seeking excellence in achieving job satisfaction. This can be achieved by providing a stimulating and attractive work environment, that would offer staff members the chance to be innovative and to make distinguished achievements, in a way that helps in improving performance indicators and developing services in general. During the forum, a number of entities presented their experience in the field of human resources, and job satisfaction incentives and indicators that are consistent with the federal government’s vision in this vital field.

Lt. General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim, Deputy Chairman of the Dubai Police and General Security presented a work paper about “job loyalty and its effects on promoting human resources satisfaction”. He said: “Credibility and transparency are key pillars to enhancing and developing the quality of services. They are also instrumental in addressing disparities and maintaining the work accomplishments.” He identified job loyalty indicators, such as dedication, commitment, regular attendance, love and pride in the workplace and preserving its reputation. Adding further, he noted: “Employees’ dedication and diligence does not expect something in return from superiors. They are required to exert efforts to contribute to the development process.” Lt. General Tamim also pointed the importance of commitment to work hours, which reflects positively on the achievements and services provided.

Furthermore, Lt. General Tamim indicated that employees should be ready to carry out instructions and act in accordance with the interests of the job, by not allowing personal interests to prevail over the interests of the workplace. He reiterated that building affiliation in the workplace is one of the most important factors that contribute to increasing productivity, reinforcing appreciation and love for the workplace, and motivating employees to take pride in their job.

In the same context, Lt. General Tamim highlighted the optimal ways to boosting  employee satisfaction by treating employees well and providing them with incentives through rewards, praise and appreciation, as well as caring for innovators and retirees, and taking part in social events with employees. This measure aims at driving development and renaissance, in response to the vision of HH Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, who stipulated the need to providing employees with care, and a stimulating work environment conducive to creativity and innovation, in order to participate in achieving the vision of the ministry and its strategic goals.”

Major General Al Khaili added that the forum is part of the efforts aimed at providing all means to develop human capacities in the Sector, as well as mobilizing and stimulating staff members’ potential. It also reflects the considerable commitment to enhancing job satisfaction, being the major indicator of individual satisfaction and stability and the major factor that leads to achieving psychological security and job stability. This would ultimately reflect positively on job performance in terms of quantity and quality.

Moreover, he noted that the job satisfaction indicator is a relatively critical subject and is closely related to several aspects of employees’ behaviors that would lead to satisfaction with the job and acceptance, which stems from the individual’s interaction with the job and the work environment; in addition to need to satisfying the needs, and ambitions. To date, the Blade series has accounted for over 20 million units of ZTE’s global device sales, thereby validating the company’s strategy of adding high-end features to devices targeted at multiple customer segments.

Among those key features are the device’s Smart Sense, which includes an intuitive and practical sets of gesture and motion controls, such as with a flick of the wrist that allows users to shine the Blade S6’s flashlight, activate its built-in mirror application, take rapid succession of photographs, play music, and much more.

Powering the Blade S6 is the new Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 615 chipset – Qualcomm’s first octa-core system-on-chip solution – and an Adreno 405 image processor capable of Full-HD H.265 decoding. This makes the Blade S6 the world’s first Android-L device to be powered by the Snapdragon™ 615, and uniquely capable of providing one of the most seamless user experiences currently on the market.

ZTE’s MiFavor 3.0 user interface meanwhile offers numerous customisation and personalization options at the finger-tips of the consumer. The Blade S6 also packs equally a punch in the audio department thanks to its Hi-Fi sound capability. The device’s five-inch screen is built using In-Cell technology, which allows better and more vibrant image quality.

Packaged in a slender two-millimetre-thin casing, the Blade S6 comes in a silver or pink matte finish.

The retail price for the ZTE Blade S6 is $249.99 US. ZTE Blade S6 will be available online globally on AliExpress, and with Amazon and eBay in selected markets.

It will be available through the distributor, Qool International Ltd, and exclusively at the Hong Kong mobile operator csl. and other major retail channels including Suning, Dream Team, Sun Shine Telecom, Cyber Telecom, 188, Pak Lik and I Mobile in Hong Kong.
