Major General Dr. Nasser Lakhrebani Al Nuaimi, Secretary General of the Office of HH Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, and Chairman of the Legal Council at the Ministry of Interior, attended the workshop organized by the Legal Council, in coordination with the Directorate General of Strategy and Performance Development. The four-day workshop, which was held at the Police Officers’ club in Abu Dhabi, aims to assess and develop legislations and laws related to police work at the Ministry of Interior.
The secretary general emphasized that the high level of the country’s institutions, departments and bodies is based on clear and reliable foundations and legislations that are consistent with the provisions of the constitution, via an updated and sophisticated legislative system, which keeps pace with the progress witnessed by the country in various sectors. He also pointed to the police leadership’s keenness to create the perfect awareness and include the most important laws and procedures that need a comprehensive assessment within clear frameworks. He also stressed the importance of recognizing the major challenges that affect the effectiveness and efficiency of the provided services, and the legal and procedural factors related to such challenges.
For his part, Brigadier General Dr. Rashid Sultan Al Khodr, Vice Chairman of the Legal Council at the Ministry of Interior, mentioned that the workshop aims to establish a comprehensive plan that identifies the current capabilities and future legal requirements by reviewing the existing legislations and laws, based on the best international practices in the legal field.
During the workshop, participants reviewed the significant progress achieved by the ministry in improving the levels of safety and security in the country, according to the key performance indicators, in its quest to achieve the goals of the UAE vision 2021.
The workshop witnessed free discussions, and reviewed the major challenges in all transparency and clarity, by concentrating on the most important aspects of interest to each sector. It also stressed the need for concerted efforts to carry out legal review of the various priority procedures, and for joint action with the team members to ensure capacity building and the sustainability of the project to review and develop all legislations and laws related to police work at the ministry.
The workshop was attended by representatives from all the sectors of the Ministry of Interior at the countrywide level, and witnessed significant interaction from participants, who endeavored to ensure the success of the workshop and to attain the coveted goals.
