The 2016 IEEE Power & Energy Society PowerAfrica Conference in Zambia Empowers Electrification Across the African Continent and Grants Scholarships to Young Individuals Involved in Electrification Projects

 Conference set for 28 June 2016 – 2 July 2016 in Livingstone attracting members of academia, investors, regulators, electric utilities, students and the energy industry to discuss best practices, technologies and share experiences

(BUSINESS WIRE)-- IEEE, the world’s largest professional organization dedicated to advancing technology for humanity, today announced the 2016 IEEE Power & Energy Society (PES) PowerAfrica Conference will take place in Livingstone, Zambia on 28 June 2016 – 2 July 2016. The theme of the conference—now open to registrations—is “Electrifying Africa: Affordable Energy Enabling Socio-Economic Development.”

The PowerAfrica Conference will be a platform for participants from academia, electric utilities and industry to discuss experiences, best practices and associated technical developments that can be applied towards the electrification of Africa enabling socio-economic development. In addition to power delivery regulations, investments and policies, the conference will cover keynotes, plenary sessions, paper and poster presentations and tutorials by worldwide experts on power delivery with focus in Africa.

Through an application process, IEEE Smart Village plans to award successful applicants a travel scholarship to assist with expenses to attend the 2016 PowerAfrica Conference in Zambia. The scholarship—up to $1,500—in reimbursement of travel related expenses, including visa expenses, travel, accommodations, conference fees and participation in tutorials and workshops.
