ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Wednesday, November 18th 2015 [ME NewsWire]
The Abu Dhabi Police Traffic and Patrols Directorate took part in the events of the Yalset Al Freej program to enhance the traffic safety culture among citizens. The event is run by the Family Development Foundation in cooperation with the Municipality of Abu Dhabi City, and took place last Thursday at Al Rahba Park in Abu Dhabi and Al Towayya Park in Al Ain. The program included messages of guidance for all segments of society, as well as competitions and awareness films via Tablet Computers.
Colonel Jamal Salem Al Ameri, Chief of Public Relations Section at the Traffic and Patrols Directorate, said that the Traffic and Patrols Directorate provided two different teams to take part in the traffic safety awareness activities of the Yalset Al Freej program, simultaneously in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain. “The participation marks the directorate’s commitment to provide traffic security for the family, being the fundamental pillar of society, which takes the heavy social and economic toll resulting from traffic accidents,” he noted.
Adding further, Colonel Al Ameri said: “The awareness-raising activities provided as a part of the Yalset Al Freej program are family-friendly, and combines traffic awareness programs, educational and recreational programs, and traffic competitions, with valuable gifts distributed to the winners.” He also pointed out that the next Yalset Al Freej program will be organized next Thursday in Al Saadah Park in Abu Dhabi from 4:00 p.m. till 9:00 p.m.
In conclusion, Colonel Al Ameri urged community members to abide by traffic laws, and highlighted families’ valuable role in support of the efforts that aim to reduce negative behaviors carried out by some young people, such as driving without a driving license; reckless driving; exceeding speed limits; failure to fasten seat belts; street racings; and other reasons that may lead to serious traffic accidents.
