In collaboration with the Ministry of Justice, the Undersecretary Diwan at the Ministry of Interior launched an outreach initiative under the title “Tathqeefi” (My Education) to boost awareness among the ministry’s staff members about the laws and regulations that apply to them, and acquaint them with their rights and obligations in a bid to promote and upgrade police work.
In this context, the Legal Affairs Department at the Ministry of Interior organized the Legal Affairs Units Forum at the Ministry of Interior’s level. The Forum that was held as part of the “Tathqeefi” initiative took place at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry headquarters in Sharjah. In his address on the occasion, Major Turki Saeed Al Dhuhouri, Head of the Legal Affairs Department at the ministry noted that the initiative is designed to promote legal education and aims at providing the ministry’s staff members with legal knowledge and hone their legal education skills. Moreover, Major Al Dhuhouri underlined the keenness of the department to enhance education of its legal personnel across its regional headquarters and units, because they are the first legal advisor to the Ministry and police leadership’s staff members.
Adding further, the Head of Legal Affairs Department said that the Ministry of Interior is constantly endeavoring to be at the forefront of excellence and leadership. “As professionals working in the legal system, we are the moral source of this excellence. We have endeavored to achieve excellence in terms of the legislations pertaining to our job positions, and sought to constantly update and develop these legislations in line with the rapid development witnessed by our community,” he concluded.
Following the opening speech, the Forum began with a lecture delivered by Advisor Ahmed Abdel Zaher from the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department, which tackled legislation and fatwas in legal work.
The Forum also addressed the obstacles that may impede work, and the challenges that face the legal units. The attendees also discussed the means to finding appropriate solutions to these challenges, through continuous development and improvement of work processes within these units. At the conclusion of the event, the floor was opened for discussions and the lecturers answered the questions and queries of the attendees.
The Forum was attended by Major Abdul Rahman Abdullah Al Ali; and Captain Mohammed Ahmed Al Zeyoudi from the Undersecretary Diwan at the Ministry of Interior, along with a number of officials from the legal units at the Police General Headquarters across the country.
