During the meeting with the Board of Directors for the Al Faraj Fund, under the Ministry of Interior, it was revealed that alongside the achievements and activities during the past year, the debts of more than 150 inmates had been settled. According to reports, the debts paid totaled more than 10 million AED and financial allocations were also provided to 192 struggling families of inmates during 2014.
Major General Dr. Nasser Lakhrebani Al Nuaimi, Secretary General of the Office of HH Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior and Chairman of the Al Faraj Fund, stressed on the importance of enhancing the spirit of cooperation and communication amongst the various social classes, which is one of the identified goals of the Fund. “The Al Faraj Fund is one of the leading associations in the humanitarian field, and it consistently endeavors to deepen the cooperation with charitable associations for the sake of upgrading philanthropic work and achieving the mutual goals in this regard,” he said.
Heading the meeting at the Abu Dhabi Police Headquarters, Major General Al Nuaimi called upon the administration of the Fund to study additional investment projects in order to develop the resources and support for the Fund in the upcoming stages. He also expressed his appreciation for the achievements of the Fund during 2014, which include increasing the number of campaigns, settling the debts of the inmates; and successfully releasing inmates with the participation of a number of charitable parties, institutions, and beneficiaries that exemplify the duties of social responsibility and help struggling inmates.
The meeting discussed the achievements of each of the campaigns which include the Ataya Exhibition in cooperation with the UAE Red Crescent, of which the Fund participated in; the Fund’s two campaigns during Ramadan; the campaign for the 43rd National Day; and the participation in the United GCC Inmates Week for the third consecutive year.
