Strengthening the Ministry’s Leadership in Police Work

Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, recently reviewed the Global Performance Excellence Award (GPEA), which was obtained by the Ministry of Interior from the Asia Pacific Quality Organization (APQO).
The task force chaired by Major General Dr. Abdul Quddous Abdul Razzaq Al Obaidly, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police for the Quality and Excellence Affairs and Head of the Sheikh Khalifa Government Excellence Awards Teams at the MoI, officially presented HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed with the award at the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters (GHQ) on Tuesday. His Highness praised the efforts of the work team for this accomplishment that is to be added to the myriad of achievements gained by the Ministry of Interior and for its contribution to further elevating its reputation and leadership on an international scale. His Highness also urged the team to exert further efforts and dedication in order to achieve and maintain organizational excellence.
The ceremony was attended by Major General Mohammed bin Al Awadhi Al Menhali, Director General of Human Resources at Abu Dhabi Police; Major General Dr. Ahmed Nasser Al Raisi, Director General of Central Operations at Abu Dhabi Police; Colonel Mohammed Hamid bin Dalmouj Al Dhaheri, Strategy and Performance Development Director General at the Ministry of Interior; Colonel Faisal Sultan Al Shuaibi, Director of Strategy and Performance Development at Abu Dhabi Police; Lieutenant Colonel Dr. Saeed Matar Al Suraidi, Head of Quality Department at the Ministry of Interior; and Major Dr. Ali Bin Daen Al Ghafli, Head of the Organizational Excellence Department at the Ministry of Interior.
Commenting on the achievement, Major General Nasser Lakhrebani Al Nuaimi, Secretary General of the Office of H.H Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior and Chairman of the Ministry of Interior’s Excellence Awards Committee, said: “The Ministry of Interior continues its journey towards excellence and leadership by obtaining international awards that reflect the development of the police work system in the UAE in a way that reinforces the Ministry’s position in the Global Competitiveness Index.” He pointed out that the award embodies the police leadership’s vision to place the Ministry of Interior at the highest level amongst other ministries worldwide in terms of leadership.
Major General Dr. Al Obaidly said: “The excellence achieved by the Ministry of Interior as the recipient of the Global Performance Excellence Award (GPEA) is the direct result of the attention and commitment of the police leadership alongside its keenness to elevate the system of police work and the level of services provided by the Ministry to citizens, residents, and visitors. This is also the result of the Ministry’s teams in various fields.” In addition, he highlighted the role of the strategy team in monitoring and improving performance indicators.
Colonel Mohammed Hamid bin Dalmouj Al Dhaheri, Strategy and Performance Development Director General at the Ministry of Interior, noted that the award represents the only official international recognition for distinguished organizational performance since the year 2000. He added that 147 organizations have won the three main categories of the award and pointed out that the award is a strategic tool that enables institutions to be successful in work while also strengthening their position in a global market that has been characterized by the speed of change and movement. The award additionally enhances awareness amongst the institutions that have been recognized with the Organizational Excellence Award due to its importance in global competitiveness, success, and sustainability.
