ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Saturday, December 27th 2014 [ME NewsWire]
As a part of the ’Security Glances’ Campaign, Colonel Hamad Nasser Al Bloushi Head of Peripheral Regions Traffic Department at Abu Dhabi Police will be making a radio address on Sunday, urging motorists to exercise caution when driving in foggy weather, during late night and early morning hours.
In his radio message, Colonel Hamad Nasser Al Bloushi will explain to listeners that foggy weather conditions are likely to cause more road accidents, therefore more attention is required and observing traffic rules and regulations is mandatory to avoid accidents. He will also urge motorists to reduce speed especially during changing weather conditions, to leave sufficient safe distance between vehicles, and to avoid overtaking other vehicles. He also warned drivers against using their hazard lights while driving.
It is worth mentioning that the Security Media Department, at the General Secretariat of the Office of His Highness Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, represented by the Radio Branch, had recently launched the ‘Security Glances’ Campaign. The campaign includes security-related tips and advice provided by service departments’ directors at the Ministry of Interior and the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters (GHQ), each according to his/her specialization. This would enhance confidence and lend credibility and transparency to the campaign’s coveted goals and outcomes.
The Abu Dhabi Police regularly implements several awareness activities to warn motorists when fog settles, through live broadcasts and social media such as Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. The awareness tips urge motorists to avoid overtaking other vehicles and to avoid other driving errors, such as using the hazard lights while driving in the fog, which may lead to traffic accidents.
